humanity encounters aliens--real aliens, advanced civilization, the whole deal--and quickly tires of them, takes them for granted, etc. the way they have the many fascinating forms of terrestrial life.

e.g., this thing is totally strange, but when its image floats across the screen, we give it the old "yeah yeah"


















we are perhaps fatally addicted to novelty
